JEALOUSY

Hey guys so on Tuesday night I went to Bible Study. The topic tonight was "Having The Right Motive" taken from 1 Samuel 17:53-58 ; 1 Samuel 18:1-15 In summary for those who dont know this scripture it when David had slew the philistine and returned unto King Saul. King Saul didn't know who he was so he asked David who he was. David answered and told him that he was the son of Jesse. Now King Saul had a son named Jonathan and when Jonathan met David the scripture said that his soul was knit with David which meant he had a connection with David the scripture also went on to say that Jonathan loved David as his own soul. Can you imagine that?? Such love for someone that you could love them as your own soul!! Now Jonathan later goes on to make a covenant between him and David. Jonathan then went on to strip himself of his robe!!  Now ladies and gentlemen this wasn't just any robe, it was a princely robe because remember he was a prince and his father was King Saul!! He not only gave David his robe but his garments, his sword, bow and girdle!!  Now time had passed and David and Saul came back and as they arrived women began to sing and dance and make music. Im sure Saul was enjoying the praises of the women but not for long because as the music was playing they began to say " Saul had slain his thousands and David his ten thousands". This made Saul furious because he noticed David was favored by the people. Saul began to make plans to have him killed. Now in all of this Saul had no reason to be jealous whatsoever. He was already King!! He had the throne. And as far as I'm concerned he shouldn't have looked down upon David because they pretty much grew up the same way. David was the son of Jesse a shepherd and Saul was the son of Kish who raised donkeys. Now who should have been jealous was Jonathan!! Because Jonathan was next in line for the throne and David was not only known to have killed ten thousands but he was favored among the people and now he was a son-in-law because he married Michal Saul's daughter.  But Jonathan had a different mentality. Jonathan was humble he didn't boast and he had a love for David so strong that he went as far as to put his life on the line and warn him about his own father Saul. He warned him that he was after him to kill him. Now this doesn't make sense right? The reason why Saul wanted to kill David was because he was afraid of him.  David had the spirit of the God with him and the spirit of God had left Saul. Jonathan had the spirit of God with him that's why Jonathan wasn't jealous or envious over David.  I could read the scripture over and over and get a new message and a different insight every time but when I read this today it made me think that there will be people who already have it all and have no reason to not like you but will still be jealous over you and hate you. Saul had it all but still wanted to kill David.  It also led me to see how precious the spirit of God is. That when it leaves someone who had it and they see it being manifested in someone else they would be so jealous of it that they would be willing to take that persons life over it. All in all the spirit of God is very precious don't take it for granted.
(This is my insight)
